This is another VP diary. If these diaries annoy you beyond measure, please just click the "Back" button and move on to something else.

I am writing this diary for myself. If others enjoy it, great. If they hate it, that's totally OK too.

If I am right in my prediction, I will need this diary to point to for my future "I was right!!!" diary.

It Won't Be Senator Biden - My Prediction

Tue Aug 19, 2008 at 07:11:43 PM PDT

The political pundits are pushing Senator Joe Biden as Obama's nominee choice.  I'm going to go against the grain and out on the limb and say - NO IT'S NOT BIDEN

The media is saying the recent trip to Georgia, requested by President Bush put Biden over the top for Obama.  I don't think so.  In fact, if I were Obama, that trip would have given me second thoughts about picking him as my VP choice.  Why you ask?

As Sherlock Homes would say, 'Elementary, my dear Watson" - Because President Bush asked him to go.

That is a typical Karl Rove maneuver.

Put Senator Joe Biden in the limelight.  Convince Senator Obama that Senator Biden is the man he needs on his side at this point.

Why would the GOP do that; with all of Biden's experience, maturity and likability giving Obama's supporters and those 'not sure', a sense of security?

I don't have a clue, except to say they probably have something on Biden that could hurt Obama.  Perhaps they are hoping Biden with his known problem of 'talking too much' at times will ultimately hurt Obama?  Either way, I just don't think Obama will pick Biden.

Obama Town Hall in Albuquerque (with pics)

Mon Aug 18, 2008 at 08:46:54 PM PDT

To fulfill the "must talk about VP talk," Obama said he "Loves Richardson" in an interview with a local TV station.

Oh, and more pics at my Flickr set on the event.

Barack Obama Event Part 3 111I left my house at 10:00 am just to see Barack Obama at Rio Grande High School, a 45 minute drive from my house down in the heavily Hispanic South Valley.  I got back to my house at about 4:00 after battling traffic and my need for a stuffed sopapilla from Stufy’s (try the #8s if you ever go to Stufy’s).  Was it worth it?  Yeah.

Obama showed up at Rio Grande High School Monday for a town hall meeting, with hundreds of supporters cheering him on.  Included were some Democratic big-hitters, including Gov. Bill Richardson and Senate candidate Tom Udall.

Before Obama arrived, some New Mexico Democratic candidates and elected officials received attention from the gathering crowd in the sweltering gymnasium.

Hillary-Palooza in New Mexico w/pix

Mon Aug 18, 2008 at 05:46:32 PM PDT

So Hillary came to the area yesterday.  Obama campaign locals were encouraging people to go.  And I was curious to check it out, too.  See what the crowd was like.  An hour ahead of the doors opening, this was what I found:

This was about the same time that people had been asked to show up to volunteer.  But they had all the volunteers they needed by then.  Española is the county seat of Rio Arriba County, a heavily Democratic, largely Hispanic county which went for Hillary on Super Tuesday.  It is said that people in Rio Arriba wouldn’t vote for Obama unless Hillary came in person to ask them to.  And so she did.

It was a dutiful performance, with a ritual feeling to it.  The laconic mood was perhaps related to a hot day, and a non-air-conditioned venue.

5 p.m. PDT Daily Open Obama V.P. Thread #66: "Final Elimination" Series Winner, New Series (w/poll)

Wed Aug 13, 2008 at 05:00:44 PM PDT

Welcome back for more speculation! Today concludes the final elimination series of possibilities for Obama's v.p., and starts a new one ("final final"?).

The previous series began with the bottom 14 names of 28, eliminated the lowest vote-getter(s) and replaced them with new name(s) from just up the list, reaveraging as we went (so each thread's bottom vote-getter[s] may not have been cut next--who was cut was determined by averages of all this series's votes). Since Obama will pick soon, we'll see if we'll have time to complete another round before we see if the DKos wisdom of crowds is. Gen. (Ret.) Wesley Clark (AR) defeated Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (KS) to win the previous series. Starting today we'll run the top 14 names I now consider most likely (I know I may be wrong). I was going to run Bayh against the winner of this series alone, but it was pointed out this would not be exactly fair, so since Bayh and Clark have now both made the cut for this series, I decided to skip that.

Please discuss any v.p. candidates in the comments. The most correct format would be to state their name, unless you have further comments. I'm happy to hear all ideas in this open thread, and I'm no official gatekeeper, so play nice.

Bill Richardson is Obama's VP

Wed Aug 13, 2008 at 09:57:28 AM PDT

It's Richardson.

Barack Obama has decided on New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson for vice president.

Richardson is not on the list of headline speakers announced to address the convention so far.

There is not, so far, a single Hispanic politician on the list of headline speakers.

It is inconceivable that the nation's only Hispanic governor would not be a headline speaker at the Democratic National Convention.

Therefore, the only conclusion to draw is that Bill Richardson will be the Democratic vice-presidential nominee.

This is my official prediction.

5 p.m. PDT Daily Open Obama V.P. Thread #65: Final Elimination Round Twenty-Two (w/poll)

Mon Aug 11, 2008 at 05:00:15 PM PDT

Welcome back for more speculation! Today continues the final elimination series of possibilities for Obama's v.p., now down to the final two.

This series began with the bottom 14 names of 28, eliminated the lowest vote-getter(s) and replaced them with new name(s) from just up the list, reaveraging as we went (so each thread's bottom vote-getter[s] may not have been cut next--who was cut was determined by averages of all this series's votes). If Obama doesn't pick soon, we'll have time for another round before we see if the DKos wisdom of crowds is. Sen. Joe Biden (MBNA) was eliminated in the previous round. The remaining candidates, in case Obama beats this series to the punch, are listed in the poll from the most to the least average votes in this series. So candidates near the bottom are likely to be eliminated in this round of voting, which adds a certain element of strategic voting. I am not saying that these are the most likely candidates: this is a poll of DKos preference among the 28 candidates we started with.

Please discuss any v.p. candidates in the comments. The most correct format would be to state their name, unless you have further comments. I'm happy to hear all ideas in this open thread, and I'm no official gatekeeper, so play nice.

Welcome back for more speculation! Today continues the final elimination series of possibilities for Obama's v.p., now down to the final three.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (NY) was eliminated in the previous round. Bill Richardson just lost my vote for VP (UPDATED)

Sun Aug 10, 2008 at 09:46:01 AM PDT

This will be short, because I am late for my weekly call to my brother.  I just saw Bill Richardson on This Week.  I know it's a pretty blunt thing to say... but I thought he was just awful.  He was like a robot... spouting talking points with hardly any regard for the questions being put to him.

More to follow...

Bill refuses to 'support' Obama and Richardson backs Bill

Tue Aug 05, 2008 at 10:27:38 AM PDT

I've actually been waiting for someone else to post a diary about this. I don't like writing diaries.

This AM on "Morning Joe" a vid of an interview of Bill Clinton has him totally ducking the question "Is Obama ready to be President?".

Was this red meat for MSNBC? You bet.

They have been chewing on this with the addition of this Bill Richardson interview.

And Richardson wants to collect money for Hil's debt.
