This revolution may not be televised, but it most certainly will be blogged.
Kos’s ridiculous attempt to stifle the debate under the guise of coming together behind our “presumptive nominee” was ham-handed and way too early. In a stunning upset last night, Sanders won Michigan with record turnout, beating even 1972. We won the muslim vote in Dearborn by something like twenty points.
I am not going to be told to line up behind the establishment. Yes, there is much work to be done and I intend to do it, but this race isn’t over. I will be pulling the lever for Bernie (technically myself since I’m on the delegate slate) on April 19th in Brooklyn, and I’ll be busting my ass to get Bernie elected here and elsewhere.
As well, I am petitioning in New York to get Nydia Velazquez (ironically, a Hillary supporter) on the ballot for re-election in NY-7 because she is a solid progressive. I’m also working via my position on the Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats’ executive committee to push for local progressive victories.
We are building a coalition of the disenfranchised, people left behind by the party establishment’s ever rightward movement. That rightward creep, BTW, began with the Clintons. It ends with Bernie and people like my friend Zephyr Teachout running for congress in NY-19.
We are crashing the gates, one state at a time, up and down the ballot.
Please proceed, Markos.
